Ukrainian National Environmental Non-Governmental Organization “MAMA-86”, one of the most renowned, committed, outstanding and experienced Ukrainian environmental NGOs announces a job opening for the position of Programme Director. Responsibilities:

• Coordinating planning, project proposals writing and reporting on the overall organization's issue activities (Greening of development policies and practice, sustainable water and sanitation, safe management of chemicals and waste)
• Taking the lead in the “greening” direction of work, including advocacy, policy, information and public education, analytical works according existing Strategic plan
• Representing the organization in public advisory bodies, expert groups, conferences at the national and international levels
• Preparing analytical documents and policy reports in relevant thematic areas
• Coordinating local branches' operations in the “greening” thematic area, specifically, by means of MAMA-86 network projects

Qualification requirements:

• University degree or equivalent (post graduate degree in environment will be considered an advantage) in one or more of the following: water science or engineering, biology or earth sciences, environmental sciences, economics, social sciences or management. European studies (studying abroad will be deemed an advantage);
• Excellent communication and management skills and demonstrable capacity to lead a multidisciplinary team and to work with government institutions;
• Good analytical and writing skills proven with the past work (studies, publications);
• Responsibility, initiative, capability of working in a team
• Fluent in Ukrainian and English (French will be an asset)
• More “doer” than “thinker” is preferable

General professional experience and knowledge

• Experience in managing projects at non-government or international organizations (international technical assistance projects)
• General experience demonstrating an understanding of principles of formulating and implementing governmental policies and carrying out NGO activities
• Familiarity with problems of Ukraine's environmental policies; good understanding of EU environmental policies and law
• Knowledge of Rio process on Sustainable Development
• The candidate understands and shares the principles and specifics of the NGO Mama 86, based on 25 years of its experience
