From models to reality:
implementation of education
for sustainable development
ideas
On 31st of March 2006 the round table "From models to reality: implementation of education for sustainable development ideas" was held in Kharkiv.
This event was organized by MAMA-86-Kharkiv, Research and Methodological Pedagogic Centre of the Education Directorate of Kharkiv City Council and Kharkiv National academy of municipal services in the frame of Green Choice of Ukraine — the project of All-Ukrainian environmental organization "MAMA-86". The Green Choice of Ukraine Project is dedicated to sustainable production and consumption in the Country and is supported by NOVIB-Oxfam fund of the Kingdom of Netherlands.
The following topics were discussed on the round table:
- United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Regional Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development and ways to assure its implementation.
- National strategy for environmental education as a part of education for sustainable development.
- MAMA-86 Green Choice of Ukraine Project which is devoted to sustainable production and consumption in Ukraine.
- Cooperation between public organizations and authorities for reaching the targets of education for sustainable development.
- Sharing experience of developing environmental education elements and including them into educational process.
Basing on the materials of speeches and discussions the round table participants adopted the resolution containing recommendations for improving the state environmental policy in educational sector.
