captionThe team of MAMA-86 Kyiv Office supported an action of humanitarian aid to children-refugees from the Eastern regions of Ukraine.

The idea of an action was proposed by Natalia Parapanova, Head of MAMA-86-Luhansk regional organization, who was forced to flee her home city Luhansk because of war, and now is internally displaced in Kyiv.

Thus, on August 5 the MAMA-86 volunteers started to collect different staff for children. On August 12, MAMA-86’s members delivered first part of humanitarian aid to summer camp located close by Dymer town of Kyiv region and to the clinic of Ukrainian Specialized Dispenser of Radiation Protection of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, located in Puschya Vodytsya, where children from Luhansk and Donetsk regions are living now.

Volunteers of MAMA-86 delivered to children the most necessary personal hygiene products, as well as toys, books, albums for drawing, etc. MAMA-86’s members and friends took part in the humanitarian action for kids.

Thanks to joint efforts, almost UAH 2000 as well as personal care products, toys, stationery materials (on amount of over UAH 4000) have been collected during a week.

Thus, the list of the most necessities delivered to kids included:

  • baby shampoo — 11 packages
  • paper napkins — 200 packages
  • toilet paper — 250 packages
  • toothpaste — 10 large packages
  • toothbrushes — 15 units
  • personal hygiene products— 20 packs
  • detergents and gels without phosphates
  • backing soda — 10 packs (for environmentally friendly dish washing)

Moreover, children received drawing albums — 20 units, markers sets — 20 packs, drawing crayons sets — 2 packs, drawing-books — 5 units, needlework kits — 2 units, and of course, board games, dolls, clothe for children, different useful goods and a bag of candies!

MAMA-86 stuff also brought to children 10 Rules of Personal Hygiene and the Journey of the Droplet posters, which clearly and in an easily-accessible form demonstrate why children should take care about neatness and cleanness of the room.

Anna Tsvietkova, Coordinator of MAMA-86 Water Programs, said, ‘The summer camp was built for rehabilitation of IDP-children with love and care. Proper shower cabins, places for hands washing were built. The camp territory is clean and equipped with plastic containers for garbage’.

Currently, 35 children of 7 to 17 year-olds are living in the Dymer summer camp, and 15 more are coming. In the Puscha Vodytsa Clinic 46 children 7 to 14 year-olds are being on rehabilitaton.

‘On August 23–24, a festival will be organized in the Dymer summer camp. Preparations for the celebration have already started’, — Oleg Perepelytsya, one of the volunteers and a founder of this camp said, ‘The program of this day is being prepared and will be realized by the kids. All interested are invited to join us overnight!’

Special thanks to Andrew Levitsky, the artist who presented drawing-albums and pens for kids, and the driver Viktor, who helped to deliver the aid to the camp, and to the MAMA-86 City Kyiv Branch, Anna Tsvietkova, who coordinated and organized the action, and to all the friendly staff of MAMA-86.

Everybody are welcome to join us! (our contacts are on the website) The action continues.
